What is Emface Treatment?
Emface is a non-surgical facial treatment that uses radiofrequency and HIFESâ„¢ technology to target skin and muscle simultaneously. The radiofrequency energy stimulates the production of the skin proteins collagen and elastin. On the other hand, the HIFESâ„¢ technology works by gently activating facial muscles, helping to increase their strength and support for the surrounding tissues. Unlike traditional treatments that target only the skin or muscle individually, Emface combines these effects to focus on both layers.
Suitable Candidates
Emface treatment is suitable for patients who:
- Are experiencing early signs of skin laxity or loss of muscle tone in the face.
- Prefer non-surgical treatments to address aesthetic concerns.
- Have realistic expectations about what non-surgical procedures can accomplish.
- Are in good overall health and do not have any medical conditions that can affect the outcomes of the procedure, such as active infections or open wounds on the face.
- Are looking to complement other cosmetic treatments as part of a broader aesthetic plan.
- Are willing to adhere to post-treatment instructions.
Dr Anh assesses each patient’s candidacy during a detailed consultation at her Perth clinic. This involves evaluating the patient’s medical history, skin condition, and specific concerns to ensure the treatment aligns with their goals.
How the Procedure is Performed
Before undergoing Emface treatment, the patient’s facial anatomy, aesthetic concerns, and goals are carefully assessed during the consultation. Dr Anh evaluates the specific areas of concern, such as the cheeks, forehead, or jawline, and discusses the patient’s expectations. This comprehensive assessment allows for a customised treatment plan tailored to the individual’s unique needs. Patients are also provided with pre-treatment instructions, which may include avoiding prolonged sun exposure, discontinuing harsh exfoliants or retinoids, and ensuring the skin is free of any active infections or irritations. Following these guidelines helps prepare the skin for treatment and minimises the risk of adverse reactions.
On the day of Emface treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove dirt, oils, and any residual skincare products. This step ensures that the treatment is applied directly to clean skin, allowing the technology to work more effectively. Once the skin is prepared, the Emface applicators are strategically placed on the targeted areas, such as the cheeks and forehead, based on the treatment plan. These applicators deliver a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and High-Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation (HIFESâ„¢) to the designated areas. The RF energy works by stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin, while the HIFESâ„¢ technology activates facial muscles to address concerns related to tone and structure.
During the Emface procedure, patients may experience a warming sensation on the skin from the RF energy and a gentle muscle contraction caused by the HIFESâ„¢ stimulation. Depending on the size and number of areas needing treatment, one session can last 20–30 minutes. After the Emface session, patients can resume their daily activities. However, patients must adhere to the aftercare instructions to lower the risk of complications. Follow-up sessions may also be scheduled to monitor the patient’s recovery progress and results and to address any concerns or questions.
